I now have wild mulberry trees growing in the backyard too... that place

is a treasure-trove of surprises lately... I guess they're relatively rare unless you have the right conditions, and I noticed a large one "hiding" in my among the leaves of the apple tree. I had seen low branches of them last year, but didn't realize I had a 25-foot tree in there too. From the description I read online, I think it's a black or more probably a red mulberry tree.

And they're all ripe right now. I'll have to find some berry recipes and will post what comes out good.

Please post any great recipes that you find. We have a couple

wild mulberry trees, too. It's always a race to beat the birds and squirrels to the berries, though.

A piece of advice. Don't park your car under or even near the mulberry tree. During mulberry season, the birds find the berries, eat them or carry them away. Then you find purple stains and droppings all over everything close by. And don't hang any laundry out during that time either!
