I stopped at the store for a couple of things

and posted all over were signs "limit, 20# rice per person". Not that it mattered, since the rice aisle only had one lone 3# bag of gold sitting all by itself.

I knew that CostCo and Sams were limiting folks, but I didn't realize it had hit the regular groceries this hard already.

Since this is a small town and our store isn't

always the best stocked it's hard to tell. Is it just here or is it this bad elsewhere?

Put me in mind of Y2K. Lots of people were expecting the world to fall apart and were hoarding

all kinds of things. My sister-in-law, a normally very intelligent person had stocked up on all sorts of strange things including TP and water. At any rate she didn't have to truck home any of the "necessary" all winter.

Because there are controls on rice, everyone suddenly feels they need to stock up.

Wow...I've had a 20# bag of rice stashed for a year...

Safely in a plastic bucket for emergency use. It might be worth more than my birthday earrings now!
