I tasted black cardamom for the first time.....it was a pod cooked with saffron rice

Ewwwwwww! The rice tasted fabulous but the pod (which I had to fish out of the dish and taste), tasted like Vicks Vapo Rub...than eucalyptus menthol taste!

 
I use it in a cabbage braise. The pods are fished out after infusing cream.

I really like the dish but have never tasted the pods (and not I will not not tempted to do so!).

 
I made a duck and cherry dish from 660 Curries that called for black cardamom. That dish stole the

show! After our dinner the smell was so pungent, I threw the rest of what I had away. I had no idea what else to make with it and couldn't stand the smell.
