I think 1 cube of butter = 1 stick of butter = 1/2 cup. 2 cubes would be 1 cup.

Sounds like a whole lot of butter for cornbread. The other recipe on that site calls for only 1/4c shortening. Anyway, I think the first recipe calls for 1 cup butter.

I thought so too, but then I thought I should check the reviews at recipezaar, and it sounds like

the reviewers are using tablespoons with great results.

Thanks for your reply.

Hi Ann, that recipe is very similar to mine, but mine has 3 STICKS of butter! REC: Cornbread

Here's a recipe I've had for ages. It's a really sweet cornbread - more like cake, really, with a little bit of cornmeal for texture smileys/smile.gif

I used to make it quite often, but I haven't made it in a while. My taste buds have changed, so I'm not sure if it will still be as wonderful as I remember it, but I really used to love it.

And in my recipe, sticks are equal to 1/2 cup smileys/smile.gif

Bisquick Cornbread
3 sticks butter, melted
3 eggs
1 1/2 cups milk

3 cups Bisquick
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
6 tablespoons cornmeal

Preheat oven to 350º F.

Beat eggs in medium bowl, add milk and melted butter.

Combine the dry ingredients in a large bowl. Add the liquid mixture, and stir to blend.

Pour into greased 9x13” pan.

Bake at 350º for 35-40 minutes.
