I was intrigued to see on a cooking program last evening that the best way to deal with an onion is

exactly as I have suggested......put the onion in the fridge first...I keep my new onions (just bought) then peeled of loose skin in the fridge ...however here they said to stick however many you want to use in ahead of prep time....I am not that organized...they just live in there all the time.
