I was listening to Joan Hamburg Show on the Radio today and one of the topics was

The Elegant Farmer, "Apple Pie Baked in a Bag." When I got home I went right to the computer and looked up The Elegant Farmer and learned that they charge $19.99 plus shipping for the pie.

I made an apple pie in a bag, possibly 20 years ago and now I wanted to find another recipe for one.

Found Gale Gand's recipe for the exact same pie and thought someone might like to try it also.

I haven't listened to her in a while...I always enjoyed her as well as Arthur Schwartz....

Tx for the rec. Looks like fun!

this was my Mom's most requested dessert. just be careful---the bag can catch on fire if

it touches the buttery crumb topping and the butter soaks into the bag.

My Mom's recipe was a crumb/streusel topped pie. I can try to find the recipe. it turned out very

crispy and rich.

we had several fires in the oven---and I always thought the baked bag smelled yukky. the cookin'

bags are a great idea. this good housekeeping recipe is almost identical to mom's---she just made the topping into streusel instead of flattening it in pieces. It really is delicious.
