Ideas for a Halloween brunch?

This all happened very suddenly. My twins turn 7 the day after Halloween. Their grandparents are visiting for Halloween but now need to leave in the morning of the 1st and therefore not able to attend the small family celebration we having that night. So, we decided to do a small family Halloween brunch on the 31st so they can get their cake and ice cream and presents from Grandma and Granpa. So, what to serve? As it is Halloween, I feel the need to honor the holiday. On the other hand, it is going to be a full day so I don't really want to be cooking a ton. So, what typical brunch foods can I somehow make Halloween?

I really can't do anything at dinner as we have a tradional pre-trick or treating dinner with our neighbors so that time slot is already committed.

Thanks

Kathleen

The first thing that came to mind was to do 2 small quiches, 2 types of juice, 2 loaves of pumpkin

bread, etc. Get it, get it? Because of the twins? If you're not too excited with that idea, how about just a crockpot sausage/egg/potato casserole that you can cook overnight and be ready for you in the morning? I've made it before, and everyone really loves it - quick to throw together and easy.

Other Halloween ideas might be biscuits in the shape of bones, red jam or jelly, oranges decorated as jack-o-lanterns, cider, "bloody" Marys served from a ladle and a container or bowl inside of a hollowed-out pumpkin, "deviled" eggs dyed green, and mozzarella eyeballs? Have fun!!

Also some creepy ideas here at the link, below.

I really like these ideas

The boys asked for waffles so I thought I might do a waffle bar with orange and black toppings (sprinkles, choc chips, mandarin oranges and peaches, etc.) What else? Would LOVE to make the cream cheese mummy but one of the guys DESPISES cheese. Could it be made with whipped cream for the waffles? What would we make the base out of if not cheese ball?

Maybe do breakfast sausage mummies. I like the deviled egg eyeball idea. Wonder how long that will take to make?

Will definitely do a scary/brew drink.

Thanks for the ideas. I am starting to really look forward to this.

Oh yeah, forgot about breakfast sausage mummies (with crescent roll dough?)

I don't know how whipped cream would hold up... how about a pound cake cut up to look like a skeleton, and then topped with white frosting "bandages" for the mummy?

Deviled egg eyeball? Yeah, I liked that one too. And the mozzarelli cheeseball eyes... but then there's that pesky cheese again!(

since you have a busy day with other Halloween events, I would make the twin's favorite breakfast

items---waffles with toppings, yogurt parfaits, blueberry pancakes, or whatever they really like and is a bit festive. maybe some gummy worms coming out of the parfait glasses.

Spider deviled eggs

If deviling your eggs isn't enough, spider them too. Just cut pitted black olives in half lengthwise and nestle one half on top of an egg for the body, and then cut the other half crosswise into thin slices to form the creepy legs.
