If anyone sees a funky PM from me, it is because I can't write a message; subject only. Sorry!

Nope; sent PMs to you and Richard. (Subject line was my personal email)

Michael - Was sending congrats on your sons accomplishments. Reaching out if your son was looking at schools on the East Coast; and what industry. (I can't believe he is a Senior already!!!)

Richard - Saw a post above that you would be in the area in May. Sorry I missed your last visit. Let me know the details, may head into the city to catch up this time.

I can't send PM's just a subject line!

Best,

Barb

Hi Barb. yes, I'll be in Manhattan May 4th-13th .

Erin, Sandra, and I were planning to go off on another foodie adventure during that time, but we don't have any plans yet. We'd love to have you join us!

Barb, he's actually a junior, but the college/career search is in full swing.

His dream is to be a "Themed Entertainment Engineer". He would love to work for Disney as an Imagineer, and is leaning toward USC School of Engineering, Cal Arts or Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

He loves anything to do with Disney, and is fascinated by the depth to which they take their designs. He hopes to design and build themed restaurants, amusement/theme parks, theaters and possibly movie sets.

He's got a long way to go education-wise, and the good counsel he's received is to get the education he needs and keep his eyes wide open for the wide range of niches in this type of business.

We're very excited for him. I want to see Walt's apartment in person some day, so I'm pulling for a career at Disney ;}>.

Thanks for the offer of assistance. I'll let you know, but for now he's looking 'west coast'.

Michael

Oh FUN! As you get closer, let me know the details. I was sorry I could not go last time.

WOW! Never heard of a Themed Entertainment Engineer. Designing and creating amusement

parks and rides is very impressive. dh is very unhappy with Knoebels. It is a small but fun amusement park in PA. It is cute and has a family atmosphere. Complete with Dogs walking around w/ their owners.

ANYWAY, dh loves roller coasters. Knoebels has a HUGE one that they created / designed. But, it is still not operational. Must be lots of safety issues. They need your son!

Talking with the staff at the park, I understand they hired engineers that focused specifically on roller coasters. Never knew / thought about that.

Has your son done the "behind the scenes" tour of Disney? It is fascinating!

Congrats again on your sons accomplishments. It is impressive that he is driven and focused on his next chapter after high school.

Michael, did your son ever see Randy Pauch's The Last Lecture?

Video is on You Tube and he talks about the Imaginarium. It's divided into 10 segments. Randy was a virtual reality guy and worth watching.

FYI, best foot in the door I ever got career-wise? Start a blog and interview people you admire.

With a thoughtful approach and building a body of work, eventually it got to the point where I could ask for *anybody* for an interview.

Now I get people asking me, "So when are you going to write about me?" Publishers, PR folk, and major names in the biz seek me out.

It was a terrific way to learn and opened doors I never could have imagined.
