I love taro slushies I get at the boba places around here, but I have looked up the taro powder for the drink on the internet and upon examining ingredients for one of the powders find that it is most likely full of fake creamer.

Anyone got a recipe that tells me how to cook the taro and then blenderize it into a drink? I can get it smooth just fine; I have a VitaMixer. . .

'Wish I could help you, mistral, but I've never heard of them. Are they like fruit slushies made

with taro? Taro is a starchy root vegetable, isn't it? Interesting.

try boiling the taro (peeled and chopped) for 15 minutes

then after drained and cooled, add milk or water and sugar to it and throw it in the blender. some cocount milk would also give it a good flavor. I would keep mixture in the fridge to cool for awhile, and before serving mix in crushed ice?

I'm only speculating as I've never actually made it at home before.

Welllll, I think this is what I will try, but I think ya have to boil the taro a little more . . .

15 minutes as it is poisonous (I think) unless it is well cooked; Cyanide or something like that?

I googled taro and lots of sites came up with warnings and instructions for cooking. protect your

hands as well.

There is frozen poi but hard to find, Ang- and you are right about the cooking time, Mistral

I wouldn't even bother cutting it up until after it is boiled- then cool and peel the skin off then cut up. You must cook it until a knife pierces it easily- like a potato when properly baked. Then it is done. It is a starch so the consistancy is like potato or breadfruit.

There are different varieties of Taro and I would think a small size would be better for your use than a large one- they can get pithy when big.

I like starburst's idea of using coconut milk- the sweetened canned kind is what I would use.
