I'm going to Chicago for 4 weeks in May-June. Any of you locals have some dining suggestions?

Here's a few suggestions

Frontera Grill (Mexican--Rick Bayless's restaurant)
Italian Village (classic Italian)
Santorini's (Greek in Greektown)
Bijan (French bistro)
Hopleaf (Belgian bistro)

Unfortunately, the Berghoff closed last year (although I heard rumors of it reopening on a smaller scale, so check it out).

I think it's Bobek's deli/grocery for polish buffet. eat till you bust--with a smile on your face.

And of course, try to get a Chicago dog while you're there.

Steamed poppyseed bun, Vienna beef hot dog (very important), relish, mustard, chopped tomatoes, pickle, sport peppers . Do not ask for ketchup--you will be summarily dismissed from the establishment.

If you can, try to get up to Hot Doug's, the home of "encased meats." On Saturday's they use duck fat for the french fries--one of the best things I've ever tasted. http://www.hotdougs.com/. It's up on the North Side, but well worth the trip.

Amanda, Is Walkers still around?? My friend went to school there, and we would go for their

apple pancakes. I recall the line to get in would stretch around the building...Everyone reading their papers and socializing, not a care in the world that they would have to wait an hour to get in....It was SOOOO worth the wait!

Not sure it is still around/popular.

Oh, yes. They now have about five or six locations in the Chicago area.

There was a Walker's fairly near our house and we'd go there occasionally. They're always packed.
