I'm looking for restaurant suggestions in Chicago...

I'm heading to Chicago for a weekend get together with 7 college friends.

We are staying at the Congress Hotel and any suggestions for casual eateries, suitable for vegetarians and omnivores would be greatly appreciated. If within walking distance of the hotel, bonus!

Any other pointers for things to do/see will be useful. I have never been to Chicago, so am looking forward to both the friends and the sightseeing!

I can help!

We usually stay at the Blackstone which is just down the block from the Congress on Michigan Ave. Our most favorite restaurant is Imperial LaMian (http://www.imperial-lamian.com) which is known for their hand pulled noodles and must-have Lunar Blossom dessert. Order the Combination XLB (Xiao Long Bao) to taste one of each. Get there on the affordable/easy-to-use Red Subway Line a short walk right behind the Congress Hotel - Jackson to State/Lake or Grand Stops (https://www.transitchicago.com/assets/1/6/ctamap_SystemMap.pdf)
Best girlfriend hang-out: Restoration Hardware/3 Arts Club Cafe (take RedLine to Clark/Division Stop). The delightful Cafe is in the middle of the Flagship Restoration Hardware Store (https://www.restorationhardware.com/content/category.jsp?context=Chicago&cm_mmc=Yext-_-Store+Listing-_-Store+Listing-_-Yext_Listing)! Grab a bottle of wine (or other drinks) in the back of the 1st floor at the walk-up counter and carry drinks off to any of the many showrooms to sit and chat, shop and visit. You will see other groups doing just that! (You can walk through the store first before grabbing drinks, too.) If you wish to eat (recommend!), put your name on the waiting list at 3 Arts Club Cafe when you pass through on the 1st floor. (http://3artsclubcafe.com)
Favorite walk-to pizza places - Lou Malnati's (just west of hotel) or Giordano's (walk south on Michigan Ave.). Both have great Chicago style pizza but we like Lou Malnati's because you order the hour-to-bake pizza while waiting to be seated and at Giordano's, we sit at the bar. Colleen
