That decided the fate of the fru-fru veggie Christmas tree crudite I was going to add to the luncheon.

All they're getting is the sweet potato pie now, monochromatism be damned.

 
If you Google the high price of celery and cauliflower, you will find the explanation

I think too, some of it may have to do with the E-Coli celery scare several days weeks ago. Weather is playing a large part in the prices.

 
Ang, do you know about Full Circle CSAs? I spoke with the owner a few years ago and she said

a good chunk of their business was shipments to Alaska. They can provide fresher produce than what I understand you can usually get in the store. It's a super popular alternative. I haven't checked the prices but my old roommate used to get a box from them every week, delivered straight to our door. She loved it!

we tried this once. got a lot of mushrooms and beets. not good up here. we get good produce now

with Costco and Fred Meyer and these eggplants I got were from New Sagaya which is a local grocer known for Asian and other foreign products, produce and seafood.
