Instant mocha mix? I can't find such a thing but this recipe suggests that it

I'm not sure this is terribly relevant, but

if it is the stuff Melissa mentions, it can have--how shall I put it?--rather anti-social effects on those who consume it. And that's just in a one-drink serving--this recipe calls for a 1/2 cup of it!

(As a substitute, I'd probably use some powdered espresso and grated chocolate instead of the mocha-drink powder.)

I think the International Coffees (the mocha mix) are now part of Maxwell House.

Well, it's fun just trying to figure out what effect that is. I guess I could try & see. Thanks both

My mom loves the stuff. I think she stopped buying so much when she was drinking

a bunch of it and gained a lot of weight one summer. Erin, I've certainly never experienced such problems drinking it, nor has my mom. Perhaps someone is lactose intolerant? I used to like the Cafe Vienna and it never bothered me either. It's about the equivalent of hot chocolate mix with coffee added in.

Yeah, but the first ingredient is non-dairy creamer (not hot choc or coffee). smileys/frown.gif

And most non-dairy creamers don't contain lactose. Maybe that's where my problem is--in whatever non-lactose milk proteins and fillers are in there.

Well, now you all know my deep, dark secret. (Also, sorry for butting in on the thread!)
