Interesting problem with silpat and baking pan

I placed a designed 8" silpat on the bottom of my 8" baking pan and baked a cake. Upon unmolding, the bottom baked uneven with some areas browned up nicely and the other areas was without colour. Examining what happened it looks like the silpat lifted up. I baked 2 cakes and both came out identically with the same browned and uncolour pattern.

Any suggestions how to prevent this from happpening again?

Received as a gift and this is perfectly 8", so I can't imagine what else it is used for.

My theory...

Are these purchased from Demarle? I imagine they work "best" with their pans...which are perforated, and will expand differently than a solid construction cake pan. The silpat is expanding faster than the cake pan and is lifting slightly.

I looked at the link and didn't see what looked my silpat - mine are red, if that's an identifier
