IPE wood cutting board....

I found some really cool wood, ipe from South America. I have been trying to check on its toxicity for using as a bread board. It has caused problems when woodworking with it, can cause dermititis (SP) , breathing problems, it's very hard and can dull knives. But it's gorgeous, very hard and heavy. The breadboards are beautiful. It would not be used as a chopping board.

hang a piece on the wall and use maple.

an ideal cutting board and a natural bacteriacide.

i still cringe when i thing of all the fantastic butcher block destroyed because some idiots thought that plastic was safer. i thought that determination withoutout experimentation went out of vogue with galileo.
