Is anyone on Weight Watchers right now?

I am trying to make some pre-packaged foods for the WW Points Plus program. I am using their Etools to calculate points from my recipes. When I entered the actual recipe into the recipe builder, the points were different than the Mastercook results entered into the Points Plus calculator. Also, when I entered in 3 T chili powder, it added 2 points to the recipe. Uggg. Any help? Thanks!

Weight Watcher's just changed their points program and my guess is that the Mastercook

is not updated to the new program yet. Etools also says that sometimes you may get slightly different results entering the individual ingredients versus entering an entire recipe too. I get 2 points for two tablespoons when I enter it also.

I just use MC to enter in the grams of protein, carbs, fat and fiber

per serving. It doesn't actually give me the WW points. I just plugs the grams into Etools. I just don't understand why 2T of chili powder would be two points. I think I am going to have to talk to someone at a meeting to understand this. I thought it would be self-explanatory. Thanks Melissa, oh and I love love love my knife sharpener. I sliced a tomato with my old paring knife the other day!

In doing a little looking online, the carb count is pretty high in ground chile/chili powder

I guess it is like dried fruit. The sugars are concentrated.

Thanks! I have some chilis. soups that are 3 and 4 points for

1 and 1 1/2 cups. And some salsas and veggie salads that are zero. It's fun trying to figure out the points in recipes and how to make them point friendly. Who knows, maybe I will actually lose some weight too!
We are two doors down from WW in the winter market, and in the parking lot during the summer market. I am pushing towards that

Great idea. Do you know if a meeting ends about the time you're out there?

I usually went to the Kroger in the same parking lot after my 7:30 a.m. Saturday meeting. If I'd had an ice chest and someone was selling WW friendly meals I would have been all over it,

I don't know, but that seems like a lot of points for a spice.

Hopefully, I will find out when I go to a meeting.

No, I looked up chili powder. It is because of the carb content

The carb content is high because of the natural sugars in the peppers. If you were only using a tsp. it probably wouldn't count. I also checked doing a google search on carb content on chili powder and it is much higher than I would have expected.

I messed around with the recipe, and surprisingly, adding a pound

of lean ground beef or turkey, didn't raise it up many points. Here is the recipe that I am talking about:

Turkey Chili (High Fiber, Low-Calorie and Low-Fat)

Recipe By : Dawn
Serving Size : 22 cups Preparation Time :0:00
Categories : Soups And Stews

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

1 lb 93/7 ground turkey -- browned and drained
1 large onion -- chopped
3 stalks celery -- chopped
1 cup uncooked pearl barley
1 cup dried lentils
3 3/4 ounces taco seasoning mix
3 garlic cloves -- minced
16 ounces black beans -- canned, drained
16 ounces kidney beans -- canned, drained
1 large yellow squash -- chopped
1 large zucchini -- chopped
28 ounces diced tomatoes
8 cups water (or more)
1 bunch cilantro -- chopped

Brown the ground turkey and drain. Add the taco seasonings, garlic salt and stir until spices are fragrant.
Add celery and onions and cook until they are softened.
Add the remaining ingredients and bring to a boil then turn down to a simmer.
Cook until the lentils and barley are tender, about an hour or so.
You may want to add more water so that the chili is the consistency you like.
This freezes very well.
One serving is 1 cup.

I used the Taco Bell Seasoning packets.

Which I won't actually be using. I will use chili powder, cumin, oregano and dehydrated onion flakes to it instead. I will correct the recipe and see if that does anything. I am kind of becoming obsessed with points. smileys/smile.gif

I plugged this into the Recipe Builder and got three points per serving

I tried switching the taco seasoning for chili powder, but when you are dividing by 22 servings it doesn't make any difference.
