Is anything any good anymore? Got up yesterday to hear my microwave running. No one around to be

heating up some coffee.

Just as I approached it, it switched to END and shut off. Clearly, however, it had been running for ages. I don't know how long ages is but it was so hot inside and out, it was scary.

It then flipped to some strange readouts, incessant beeping and shut down. Did the same thing again and I went out and flipped the breaker.

Turned it on this morning expecting the repairperson shortly, and set the clock. It seemed okay for 2 minutes; then it started running on its own again.

It's a 3-year old KA over-the-range apparatus. And I think this is just darn scary. Will I ever trust it again? Oh, I don't think so. The repairperson didn't come by but in a phone conversation decided that he knew what was wrong and has ordered a new command panel for it.

Still scary.

that's pretty scary Marg. imagine if you were away for a day or two and heated itself up like that

yikes!

I can beat that - a mouse jumped

out of my toaster this morning (I think) when I plugged it in. What confirms my suspicion that it was acually in there and not just near it is that it is weight-triggered, and it started right on when I plugged it in. I don't trust it anymore either, and unplug it when I'm not using it. My cats are always bringing stuff in from outside and this one, apparently, got away from them and was hiding in my toaster. "Eeeooooow"

Mice in my toaster, bunnies stuck between the cupboards. The cats do provide a source of entertainment, don't they.

That would be scary though, Marg. Hopefully the repairman is right and you won't have anymore surprises!

oh, ahahah---this made my morning! thanks for the chuckle, but it might not have been funny to you.

My aunt had a lamp that kept turning itself on at night and when I was little my dog's metal collar

used to turn on the remote-controlled tv when she scratched her neck with her hind leg - not kidding. Something about the vibration of the metal links in the chain and the magnetic/electric forces it occasionally put out when conditions were "just right" I guess. We had to unplug it when we left the house unless we took the dog with us.

I'm sorry. I would have gone right back under the covers for the rest of the day. As for the microw

ave, can you unplug it????? Yikes!

my sis's stove burner has lit itself 3 times - fortunately, while she's been there.

When she gets up to turn it off, it goes off by itself - gas flame, too!

Ghostly scary... I had a somewhat of similar incident back in 1993, I had just moved into a new

condo and my girlfriend gave me her console tv with remote said the remote was slow.

Any way, when I moved in my then son was 12yrs old and visiting in NJ so I was by myself.

During the middle of the night I heard someone talking and they were in the next room!!!! I grabbed my aluminum bat and crawled on my stomach for a surprised attack, funny my dog was not reacting... as I inched forward to the living room on my stomach I saw flickering lights, shadows, and heard more people talking.. What took an eternity and too my heart was ready to jump out of my chest of fear I did manage to muster up the courage AND..I finally jumped up and started to swinging. I heard a crash and things knocking over.

When I opened my eyes the tv had turned it self on and very slowly was changing channels, the crash was my favorite vase shattered all over the floor.

I laughed with relief and soon got my barrings together and started to clean up when out of no where the tv turned itself off. That freaked me out.

Finally went to bed and in about an hour I heard people talking again, apparently the tv controlled itself and turned on and off at will. It didn't help that I live 1 1/2 blocks from a cemetary.

That night when I went home I destroyed the remote for the tv, and sure enough it continued. I finally just unplugged the tv, and soon after gave it away because it just always did that, turned on, off, changed channels, volume went up and down. To this day I believe that tv had a life of its own and was possessed.
