Is it just me, or are things becoming increasingly impossible to open up?

I already have accepted that I cannot open anything in plastic, I have to use a scissors. The other day, I discovered that you have to open up cream cheese from one side now. Then there is almost anything else. Everything is shrink-wrapped in plastic, I remove it, and discover that there is an interior device "keeping the consumer safe", mustard and ketchup, for example. Tonight, I had to get the needle nose pliers in order to open up the smoked oysters. Is it just me???

NO, not just you! I have to keep scissors and a Swiss Army Knife in my kitchen >

to open everything. Oh, then there is the gadget called the "jar pop" so I can get the screw lids off of jars. I guess it must be a necessary evil to protect us from something. Actually, haven't you found that most everything is life is a battle now?

No, it's not just you. I spend so many hours looking for tools to crack open plastic.

Twice I've cut myself almost bad enough to go to the emergency...

I've even thought of bringing a lawsuit against a couple of these companies!! How do they expect you to open these darn things?!

If any of your remember the TV series "Days and Nights of Molly Dodd"

there is one precious scene where she's trying to open a plastic sealed package. Molly ends up using everything in the house...including her teeth and running a pizza cutter down the edge.

Now EVERY SINGLE TIME I use my pizza cutter, I smile remembering that scene.

Then I take a friggin' sledge hammer and smash the darn thing to open it.

What bugs me most is that after using every tool in the house to break into the ...

package it immediately starts to rip at the slightest touch all the way down to the bottom--mostly chip bags.

Did anyone buy that new tool out last fall that supposedly opened those awlful plastic molded

packages? I guess it worked pretty well according to the segment on the Today show that reviewed those TV products.

Yes, right next to the cereal spills. It's a conspiracy so it goes stale and we have to buy more.

You should see how fast I fly across the kitchen when I see one of the kids trying to open a new

bag of chips.

Was it this "Krazy Cutter" thingie? It actually worked QUITE well!>>>

It has a miniscule ceramic tooth, which would easily cut through the molded plastic, but would also cut through one sheet of paper, without cutting the layers underneath!

I was pretty amazed at how it worked! The only drawback it that it has a magnetic backing, which led me to believe I could stick it up on the fridge, so I could find it whenever I needed it.

Of course it fell off a few times, and before you knew it, the ceramic tooth was gone smileys/frown.gif

Keep it in a safe place, and I'm sure you would like it.

(I was just AMAZED at how it cut through the molded plastic things.....)
