Is there a Costco Anon group?

I need one.

A bigger better larger shinier newer Costco opened across the street from my husband's office. He can see Costco from his office window.

They gave everyone free Costco memberships!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

You see where this is going. "Honey, I can do the shopping now!"

Every other day, "I'm going to make a Costco Run! (oh dear god save me!) Put anything you want on the list.

I never put anything on the list since he buys so much food we can't possible eat it all. I finally told him I felt like I was the trash compactor trying to eat up his Costco food before it is composted.

We are throwing away so much food now I'm embarassed. We never did that when I managed the kitchen and did the shopping!

And, can we talk?, that Costco produce isn't the freshest. You buy the 5 lbs. of green beans and I open them and they are already slimy. Ick.

"Hi honey, they have a sale on 5 lbs. of peeled garlic!"

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Does the fever end? Do I need to do an intervention? I can't take much more of the Costco Food Hell.

Ha. Thanks for the early morning chuckle, R. Your plight is exactly why I don't have a membership.

I used to overbuy just like that when BJ's (a Costco knockoff) opened up near Lockheed and they gave employees free memberships.

But--for two people--what do you do with 64 oz of roasted peppers? Or a gallon drum of roasted peanuts, enough to put an entire state of peanut allergy suffers in anaphylactic shock? Why did I buy FOUR chickens? Well, I bought them because they were vacuumed-sealed together and the price was slightly more than two from the regular store. But we had NO ROOM for FOUR CHICKENS.

I moved away from BJs and the COSTCO here is--hell, I don't know where it is and I don't want to know.

Good luck with the detox/intervention for Tim. To paraphrase an AA prayer beginning: "we admitted we were powerless over COSTCO—that our kitchens had become unmanageable."

God Speed and avoid the condiments aisle at all cost-co.

"we admitted we were powerless over COSTCO

At our Farmers Market run on Sunday, our son talked about how hard it was to work from home this past week while they were refurbishing the workspace. He was working too many hours because of no distractions. Seems like there should be a solution to that, and overbuying at Costco. smileys/wink.gif Colleen

The amount we save on gas and travel more than pays for membership

And we have made significant inroads in not overbuying. That said, I'm currently on a "chocolate milk for breakfast" regimen with Kirkland Signature Organic Low-Fat Chocolate Milk in the TetraPak as my morning habit. Also on our must-have Costco list are the rotisserie chicken, yogurt, Kirkland pesto, Kirkland margarita mix, paper plates, nitrile exam gloves (latex allergy), and garbage/lawn bags.
Spoiler Alert! We have an Executive Membership which provides a yearly rebate. If your cash rebate check is NOT MORE than the $60 difference between the GoldStar and Executive membership costs, they will refund you $60 (if you ask). Point being, the Executive is the same price as GoldStar but provides additional club benefits/cash rebate. Colleen

R, tell T that I got food poisoning one time from the samples they give out

I understand that this is totally possible just about anywhere, even in our home kitchens. I was really sick, tho. Colleen

I live alone and love Costco, I use it as my pharmacy, buy wine, vitamins, I canned line caught

Tuna, Biscoff cookies, jeans, gas, photo reprints, sun glassses, water filters...... many other things that they only have for a while and then they are gone. Well worth my membership fee.

I am thankful for Costco and save about 30 percent over other stores here

Costco has been here on Kauai for many years now. I counted the days until it opened. There are only two of us in our house. I make ALL the food we eat; we don't go out, we don't stop for fast food, we don't take out containers of food. I have a large pantry and a large freezer. I go to Costco about every six weeks and load up. I'll spend $300-$600 depending on the needs. Meat for the freezer, veggies (never have had anything slimy or even remotely "old"), cheeses, wine, canned goods, pharmacy items, household goods, you name it. I take it home and repackage meats for the freezer and have a mental list of everything so I plan on using what I bought. I have never thrown any food away because of over-buying. I am so thankful for Costco! The Kirkland brand is always reliable and good, the meats are wonderful, breads, everything I buy is first-rate. I'm sorry some of you aren't happy with Costco- maybe it is really different other places but here it is welcome and wonderful. I consistently save 30% on groceries over other stores.

That's odd...Kirkland was also the "store brand" at the BJ's in Orlando. Are they siblings?

Because there was also a Costco on the other Universal/Disney side of Orlando. So I thought they were different companies.

I haven't recalled seeing Kirkland at our BJ's

The food items have Wellesley Farms brand on them and non-food things are Berkley-Jensen.

It's just 2 of us also, but we save enough on items we do buy to make it worth while.
