Is there an odour spray that works for fish? I've always tried to stay away from spraying synthetics

around me but the smell of fish after cooking in this apartment, is making me want to hang out on the balcony overnight.

Does any of these sprays actually work? Is there a best one? Please.

If your fish smells fishy, you are probably. . .

overcooking it. Try cooking till barely done and then remove to a warmed plate/platter and let finish cooking on its' own retained heat. Perhaps if you live in an apartment, you could try cooking in an electric fry pan on your balcony? smileys/smile.gif

Interesting tip! But as an apartment dweller, I have to say: electric pan + balcony = oven, instead.

Did the BBQ fish on the balcony all summer. That was fine. Not so much fun in the rain. I'm

very sensitive to odours and have an inadequate vent over the cooktop. Bad combination. In my house, H installed a commercial kitchen fan on the roof. I miss it. Fish is the worst, even before it starts cooking.

A few drops of any citrus essential oil in a simmering pot of water often helps...

Maybe not for heavy-duty smells, although this is usually what I use if we've cooked a lot of fish and can't get the odor out through the exhaust fan. Or throw fresh orange/lemon/etc. peels in a pot of simmering water for a few minutes--same effect. smileys/smile.gif
