Isn't the best when sweet little 9year grandie comes and puts her arms around you and says...

"are you Ok Nana? You know I have something so special just for you." and then plants a large soft kiss on old Nan's cheek!

Ohhhh! swoon.

Oh yes, it is the best. I will never forget we had our grandson with us

on a trip. He was about 10 and I got a cell call from our neighbor that the house sitter we had hired was not doing her job. I had dead potted plants and worst of all, my indoor kitty was spending her days outside in the hot summer heat. We were hundreds of miles from home. I came unglued and started to weep. Our little grandson came up to me, put his little arm around my shoulder and said, "don't cry grandma, lets go home and fix it!" And we did!

My 5 year old granddaughter stayed overnight on Saturday and peed in my bed...

My husband & I had a wedding to go to on Saturday. We had to be at the church by 10am. My daughter called on Friday afternoon and asked me to take Isabella overnight. Her fiance is a brewer and there was a brewfest on the Connecticut River at the canoe club and he was showcasing his beers. She said she'd pick up the baby (I still call her "baby") by 9:30am on Saturday so we could make the wedding.

Well, Isa peed. I was sleeping next to her. I awoke first because it seeped over to my side. I had to bathe her, sweat, strip the bed, wash her jammies, sweat, wash my bedding, clean the mattress, sweat, feed her, sweat (I'm menopausal). Her mother arrived, as promised, at 9:30 am and I was a sweating, pee-smelling mess.

We missed the ceremony, but I looked lovely at the reception and I drank and drank and...well, anyway...

Just to make this food-related, the Delaney House in Northampton MA is a wonderful place to stay, to have a gathering or to eat lunch or dinner and there's a golf course, too. Really good food and service.

Oh, and in her defense, I let her have a huge bottle of Moutain Dew before bed...

I know, I know...bad Grama.

LOL! You have your priorities straight, right down the line.

Family first, then fun, then glamour, then ceremony.

The poor girl must have been a little disoriented. I'm sure she'll remember how kind you were.

When she woke up she was upset, but I immediately told her it was my fault...

Then I gave her a Strawberry Shortcake bubble bath.

But, that's what Grandparents are for...Spoiling!(Mountain Dew, kuddling in bed with gm and gp!)

NFR: Oh, isn't it great that you can right all the wrongs...

with the grandchildren? I was so young when I had my kids. I wish I could be Peggy in "Peggy Sue Got Married". Well, maybe not. Would I do it all over again knowing what I know now? Probably not.

i can just see the headlines...

precious 5-year-old girl persuaded by local fire and rescue unit after being drugged by grannie.

You know, rvb, I was just going to PM you, but decided the public needed to know...

that you are a wonderful, funny, literate yet, desperate for recognition, member of the Veteran Society here at Finer Kitchens. I am vying for your position and announce myself as a candidate for the title of....Well, we'll decide that later. Stay healthy.
