ISO: ISO a chocolate cake recipe suitable for using in an ice cream cake.

I have had the worst luck lately with cakes - I used to never have issues with not being able to get them out of the pan, etc. but somehow I have lost my baking muse or something.

I need a good moist chocolaty cake recipe to make an ice cream cake for my DS's birthday.

 
LOL---I never forget it!! So easy and so good.And I really

do suggest using all butter (recipes are all over the place on shortening). When I do people really comment on how good it is. Enjoy.

 
This worked out *really* well - I will use it for ice cream cakes from now on.

DS loved it, and his friends were impressed that I made it. Keep in mind it was not fancy, but home made treats, and especially birthday cakes, must be a rarity.

I made it with mint chip ice cream and frosted with sweetened whipped cream. I assembled it in a spring form pan, and froze before frosting which worked really well.
