I have 3 of the standard cheap ones that are all so off as to be unusable. Isn't there a reliable one out there?!

 
I got the Comark CF400K - it's 12-1/4" long and has a clip near the top so you can

clip it onto the larger pans. It was exactly to 212 deg. in boiling water, so I didn't have to worry about it being off even a degree!

I made the torrone (which I thought was really fabulous), but my Italian friend said it is far from being the right consistency... she said it should be "pull-out-your-fillings-taffy-like", and it wss more like fudge. I like it just the way it is, so she'll just have to buy her own torrone smileys/smile.gif
