of 1998. The frosting was a pale yellow and was decorated with fresh berries on it. I think the cake was yellow, too; it was baked in 10" pans. I made it for my grandson's birthday that year. He has told his new bride that it was the best birthday cake he ever had and asked her to get the recipe. Of course I've lost it...somewhere...

the recipe you are looking for was in the Bon Appetit June 1998 edition, under Cooking Class for Orange Layer Cake with Orange-Caramel Cream Cheese Frosting.

The Pastry Chef is Richard Ruskell of Scottsdale's Phoenician Resort. That is the only cake that matches your description. The good news is it is on Epicurious and I am linking you to the recipe. The actual article is 2 pages long with photos. Hope this is the cake.
