Here are 3 "white bread" recipes I made a few years ago when I was using my bread machine alot.
Of the three, the buttermilk bread and sour cream bread were my favorites.
I'll also post another favorite below (not white bread though) which makes yummy toast and terrific sandwiches...a buttermilk honey wheat bread.
Dede's Buttermilk Bread (bread machine)
1-1/2# dough or (1# dough)
1-1/8 cups buttermilk (7/8 c.)
3 tbsp honey honey (2)
1-1/2 tsp salt (1 tsp)
1 tbsp butter (1 tbsp)
3 cups bread flour (2)
1/4 tsp baking soda (1/4 )
1-1/2 tsp red star yeast (1-1/2 tsp.)
Place all ingredients in bread pan, select Light Crust setting, and press start.

Notes from book: Moist, rich, tender loaf. Plain, white sandwich bread doesn’t get much better than this.

Sour Cream Bread
1 lb. size
1/3 cup plus 1 tbsp water
1/3 cup sour cream
2 cups bread flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp brown sugar, firmly packed
1 tsp yeast
1-1/2 lb. size
1/2 cup plus 1 tbsp water
3/4 cup sour cream
3-3/4 cups bread flour
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp brown sugar, firmly packed
1-1/4 tsp yeast
2 lb. size
1/2 cup plus 1 tbsp water
1 cup sour cream
4-1/2 cups bread flour
1-1/2 tsp salt
2 tbsp brown sugar, firmly packed
1-1/2 tsp yeast

Basic White Bread
1 pkg yeast (2-1/4 tsp)
3 cups bread flour
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp nonfat dry milk powder
1 tbsp butter, room temperature
1-1/4 cups warm water
Pour yeast to one side of the inner pan. Add rest of ingredients in order given.
