I know several of you do some cooking demos and cook at markets and stuff. I was wondering if any of you are using any of these portable cooking burners or eyes that I am seeing. I saw one 'gourmet' kitchen recently that only had these portable burners. They are saying these are not the protable burners of your mother's kitchen so I wondered if anyone had any and could say how good they work or don't work. TIA

Missy. When I was at the Farmer's Markets, I used a portable butane burner,

two actually, that I bought at the restaurant supply. They had a plastic briefcase sort of thing to store them in and transport. Then you would just take them out, put in the butane fuel tank and hit their automatic ignite button. They worked great. I will use mine this summer when I don't want to cook inside. I loved them, and for a propane fuel wimp like me, it wasn't even scary.

Dawn this is a find. I've paid $40 to rent a big bulky stove with a full size tank>>>

I think you must have shopped at a nicer Smart & Final than we have in Long Beach, but I'll check this out. Thanks!

I think it's strictly a California chain. A restaurant supply store open to the public.

I have one of these. They use them at our Club for tableside cooking.

That is a terrific price. You might look in the camping section of Target, or Bed Bath and Beyond.

I cannot stand any kind of surprise popping noise,

I have to call hubby in to open those Pillsbury biscuit tubes. LOL. Sad but true, until recently. He showed me how to whack it against the edge of the counter instead of using that "press spoon on this line" technique.

We had one, here, on 79th Street, west, that closed, and I think that >>>

the one in Hollywood is till open.
