and it is really, really good! I would have been very happy to sit with a cup of hot tea and eat the ENTIRE batch by myself. This was my first attempt at making my own candied orange peel. While it turned out good (I think?) it is quite time consuming and I may buy it in the future.

So, AGM thank you so much for posting and Gay if you still have some orange peel, you might want to try these!

I agree! This is among my very favorites from the old Gails.....(more)

I make it often. While the orange peel making is a little tedious it makes a big difference. The stuff you buy is often tasteless. The only problem with this recipe is that if you give some away as a gift you will be stuck making it for that person for the rest of your life. smileys/smile.gif

Here is another one you might like: Cornmeal-Almond Biscotti

This is from the "Once Upon a Tart" Cookbook:

Cornmeal - Almond Biscotti

oven at 350, rack in the center of the oven

Cream 1.5 sticks of butter and 1.5 cups of sugar until light and fluffy, beat in 3 large eggs, one at a time and 1T plus 1.5 teasp almond extract.

Mix 3 C flour, 3/4 C cornmeat, 2T aniseed, 2.5 teasp baking powder and 1/8 teasp salt. Add to wet mixture gradually and then add 1 3/4 C toasted and coarsely chopped almonds.

Roll into logs and bake 35-40 minutes. Cool completely, slice and bake again for about 30 min or until they are as crunchy as you like them

Janet in N C - Don't you just love that cookbook? It is just one of my favorite cookbooks.

Oh no, another cookbook I just have to buy. Good thing I have a Borders gift card to use.

Me too Ang. I just bought the Fig Heaven book that Gay and Pat spoke about earlier...

I can't wait to try out some of the recipes. I had Borders holiday rewards saved up so I got it for free. However, that doesn't help with 1) where to store it because my shelves are full and 2) when is there time to try more recipes? I will die looonnng before I ever try all the recipes in my "to try" pile, never mind from all the books I have accumulated...............
