ISO: ISO Ang or anyone else who still follows "The Sopranos," what the heck's a Lincoln Log Sandwich?

Carmella made it for AJ's lunch in last night's episode, and AJ would rather die than eat it.

But it looked good to me. (And to Tony.) It seemed to involve hot dogs and cream cheese (Philadelphia brand--product placement). Is this a New Jersey delicacy I don't know about?

I'm stumped too. looked like split hot dogs with "something" spread on them. eaten cold?

me three. I googled but couldn't find it. we're watching tonight so I'll pay extra

close attention to that scene. I don't know about it being a "Jersey" thing. I spent all my summers with my gram & pop in So. Jersey and never heard of these.

hoagies, philly steaks, philadelphia sticky buns but no lincoln logs that were edible.

What a funny post, Karen! But don't read it yet, Randi, it gives away too much. The sandwiches

in the show definitely contained cream cheese. Maybe hot dogs were split as Ang says, and laid cut sides down like logs, with cream cheese slathered in between like caulking?? Just a guess.

From the deep corner of my memory area, Lincoln Log Sandwiches are coming back to me

I remember my mom cutting them into strips and layering them. I think I did the same for my toddlers. That was a LONG time ago!

thanks for the warning Joe smileys/smile.gif I did find references to cream cheese but they didn't say what

else went into it. I'll let ya know tomorrow if I can figure it out from watching the show.

hey, where's Charlie? he lives in jersey, maybe he's heard of them. after all, he is Italian.... ohhh, I'm gonna get so clobbered '-)))

Got a friend that was on the show - will verify but I am pretty sure...

it's white bread with a hot dog cut into slices aka the Lincoln Logs - spread with Philly cream cheese. You could see the writing on the tub as she was putting it in the fridge. I think that is all it was.

I'll send him an email and see if I can get a confirmation straight from the source.

Even though we live 10 minutes from where "The Sopano's" are supposed to live,

I have no idea---it does look like cream cheese over hot dogs--or plaster between logs.

In Italian we would call the dish "Sauzeech Garibaldi con marscapone"--in dialect

can't wait to see it. DH wanted to wait until it's on the HBO we get in high definition, I'm going

nuts here! think it's tonight....

I hope she at least grills the hot dogs--if they're cold out of the fridge, no wonder AJ's depressed

Rats, I thought we'd discovered a regional favorite, like a Philly Cheese Steak or a Coney Island.

And plain white bread? Carmilla has disappointed me.

Lincoln Log Sandwich

I'm pretty sure that it was cream cheese that was spread on the sandwich.

Lincoln Log sandwich mystery is solved! I finally got to sit down and watch the

Soprano's last night and was totally prepared for the sandwich scene. Carmella took slices of white bread, looked like wonderbread, sliced hot dogs lengthwise and smeared them with Philadelphia whipped cream cheese and that was it. it didn't look like the dogs were cooked.

personally, I think she should stick to her Italian dishes, gag me on the dogs! '-))
