My recipe calls for 'instant yeast' (pizza dough) but I just came back from the store and could find everything but instant yeast. I do have rapid rise...are they interchangeable.

Thank you SO much,

Deb

Deb, when I make pizza dough I use rapid rise (the original recipe called for instant yeast) I like

the results of rapid rise compared to instant yeast.

I don't think I may have answered your question but I am hoping this helps you.

I normally don't do this but when I have run out of instant yeast I use rapid rise yeast and vise versa and to be honest I have NOT seen a difference in taste or texture.

instant yeast and Rapid Rise mean the same thing...

I did take a look at the yeast feature on Cook's Thesaurus, and even though it says you can make bread with just one rise with instant yeast-that doesn't mean you have to do just one rise-just wanted to clarify that.

I think Rapid Rise is Fleischman's brand name for instant yeast-I think it has caused lots of confusion. It does not make bread rise any faster-it just does not have to be proofed in liquid before adding to the flour.
