ISO: ISO Cathy Z - Just heard about the Earthquake - Please check in hope all is o.k. with you ...

In Search Of:
Randi and Gay, I am fine- thanks so much for your concern

Quite a morning! My eggs got scrambled without me using a fork!

Seriously, Kauai got shaken up but as far as I know, no damage here. Oahu, Maui and the Big Island have power outages so information is coming in slowly but it looks like a big landslide on the Big Island may be the worst of it- and that happened on the highway between Kona and Hilo. I talked to a friend on the Kona side who lost all her beautiful crystal, china and all the pictures on walls throughout her house fell and the glass shattered but they had no structural damage.

CNN and FOX news are doing their best to put everyone in panic mode (they do that so well, don't they?) and certainly there will be some aftershocks but probably the worst is long over. Any further reports of damage are still pending- the governor has not issued any damage reports yet. The best news is that there is no Tsunami possibilities for Hawaii.

Thanks to all of you who are concerned-

Cathy, So happy to hear that you fine. I've been watching FOX ...>

and there are not any pictures yet, just speculation, while damage is being assessed.

Relieved to know that you are o.k.

Gay

whew! glad to hear you're safe. MSN is doing a great job with their..

reporting. no deaths so far, slides, people trapped in elevators, torential rain falls aren't helping. boulders down on the main hwy and structural damage at the resorts. power outages but internet is still up and people are blogging.

surfers are on the beach waiting for the BIG wave '-))

stay safe and dry.... warm hugs

FOX is reporting the earthquake as 6.6 revised from 6.3. That is a significant quake.

Cathy, glad all is well on Kauai! Sandi is on Oahu, and the reports

are that most of that island is without power.

So glad you're safe over there, Cathy! I hear the power is out on Oahu ...

I hope Sandi is okay too and checks in when she can.

HI All - we're fine here! Thanks so much for thinking of us smileys/smile.gif

No damage at all - we were just without power from about 7am to 2am, but otherwise we're fine. I was standing out in the carport when the earthquake hit, and was wondering why my knees felt so wobbly.

Then I went into the house, hubby said "DID YOU FEEL THAT??" Only then did I realize that it was an earthquake! I heard that it was 6.6 on the Big Island, but it was not that bad on Oahu.

Friends in high rises said the dishes in the dish racks rattled, and pictures fell off their shelves, but that was about it.

Luckily we have a little butane stove, so we had instant ramen and leftover fried chicken for breakfast, and fish tacos for dinner (grabbed a piece of fish from the fridge, when it was still cold).

Plus all the snack foods we wanted all day long, since days without electricity are days without calories. Right???!?!

Thanks again for your concern - it's so nice to have such wonderful, caring friends!

Glad you are both OK. Curious1 said it so perfectly....FK/Mimi's has shrunk the world! (m)

Although you are OK, I am sure it was quite the experience!!! All the best to you and your friends/family!

Regards,
Barb

Earthquakes are so disorienting! I hope both Sandi and Cathy are feeling safe. In my experience,

the aftershocks are the worst part because your nerves are already frayed.

So glad to hear that, so far, there are no deaths reported.
