Thanks for posting that recipe. My Australian Shepherd has a sensitive tummy, so I decided to try it out a coupla weeks ago.

She just loves it, and looks forward to her meals now. (I often had to bribe her to eat!)

Had a question about one of the ingredients you listed - 1 cup rye. I'm assuming that's a whole grain, not just a flour? Or is it flakes, like rolled oats? I think I have to go to the health food store to find it.

You also listed 1 cup flax. I used whole flax seeds the first time I made it, but noticed it passed through whole. I know that you have to grind it for humans, so I ground it the second time.

(By the way, have you ever tried to grind flax seeds??? I have a mini food choper thing, and it just spun around and around, and never got chopped. Then I tried a suribachi, but that didn't work either. Finally got the little coffee grinder and that worked very well!)

I'm also going to try the Anti Arthritis recipe someone posted, as soon as I can find beef hearts...

Thanks again for the recipe!

Sandi....not CathyZ.....but I have been making my dogs food for 4 years and

in addition to supplements, the vet suggested Flax Seed Oil. I buy Spectrum that is kept in the refer/health food section of my supermarket. Health Food stores carry it also. The oil helps the dog pass the raw veggies and adds to the beautiful coat and skin he has.

flax grinds well in a coffee grinder. It goes rancid, so keep seeds/grounds in freezer.
