They were called "Chewy Toffee Squares" or Caramel Squares- and they had only 4 ingredients as I recall, Bisquick, Sugar might have been Brown, Eggs and Nuts- Maybe mini choc chips, or i might have just added those....I might hav gotten the recipe here or at the old tTop Secret Recipe board about 6-7 years ago...Can anyone help me?? its Sunday, I FINALLY have a day off and I have a CRAVING!!!!!

 
Tammy, Here is a recipe fro Caramel Turtle Bars from a Bisquick Cook Book (Most Requested Recipes)

Caramel Turtle Bars

Heat oven to 350 Degrees F.

1-1/2 cups Bisquick baking mix

1 cup quick-cooking oats

3/4 cup packed brown sugar

1/3 cup margarine or butter, softened

1 egg

1 package (14 ounces) vanilla caramels

2 tablespoons milk

72 pecan halves

3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Mix baking mix, oats, brown sugar, margarine and egg; press in bottom of ungreased rectangular pan, 13 x 9 x 2-inches. Bake 15 minutes or until golden brown; cool.

Heat caramels and the milk in 2-quart saucepan over low heat, stirring frequently, until smooth; spread over crust. Place 24 clusters of 3 pecan halves each on caramel.

Heat chocolate chips over low heat, stirring occasionally, until melted. Spoon about 1 teaspoon onto center of each pecan cluster. Refrigerate about 30 minutes or until firm. Cut into about 2-inch squares. Store in refrigerator. Let stand at room temperature about 30 minutes before serving.

OK, I recreated it!perfect for bake sales, potlucks or something FAST!

This seemed to work:

Chewy Caramel Squares

2 C. Bisquick
2 C Packed Brown sugar ( i used Light)
3 Large Eggs
1 C Chopped Nuts
1 C Choc Chips (optional) i used mini chips

Mix first three, add last two, spread in greased 9x13 pan, Bake 350 25-30 min- Cut into squares-
It doesn't get any easier than this!!!!
