The father is old school. His new wife is not. Who the heck knows what to do?

and my future son-in-law is not lacking in social skills. He's very polite, but doesn't seem to want to mingle or converse, almost as though he's checking us out first to decide whether he likes us or not. I always thought it was the other way around. He should be nervous about meeting us!

 
I always ask new guests if they have any food allergies or special needs. kosher would fall into

this request, and the future mother-in-law might be tickled if you asked her what food she prepares for her DH. If kosher, do you have to consider the wine as well?
