ISO: ISO Curious, I made the radish top soup! I never would have tried it if you hadn't done it first.

With my first garden radishes of the season, this was so good. I presented it as watercress soup, and if I weren't a fundamentally honest person I could have gotten away with it. I confessed halfway through the first bowl.

This is a simple, hearty, healthy soup, and I can see it as a formula for turnip or beet greens, or Swiss chard leaves. I now know that if I'm making watercress soup and I'm short on watercress, radish tops can make up the difference.

By the way, I've lost almost 10 pounds in the last three months. Part of my plan is to make a pot of soup once a week and call it dinner for a couple of nights. I sleep better on soup too.

And didn't it make you feel thrifty? I've found if I don't have enough radish tops, arugula is

a good addition.

Perfect timing - my farmer sent out he had fresh radishes tomorrow

and we are cooking vegetarian in class on Wednesday so I'll try it and then maybe pull it out of my hat on Wednesday.....

Does anyone know what happens to the in ground radish plant if you take off the tops?

Does the radish continue to grow or does it make any difference to the radish?

Karen, the radish would live, but I don't think it would be good to eat...

They're best picked very young, before they get large and turnipy-tasting. The best part about growing your own radishes is that you can pick them when they're tiny.
