I've never made this, but have eaten it in Lebanese restaurants. Here is a link to what appears to be a good recipe. My cookbooks are all in boxes and inaccessible at the moment or I would have gotten the recipe for this from my old tattered Lebanese cookbook...

This looks like it should give a result about like what I have eaten. If this looks wrong, let me know and I'll consult my 'source' to try to figure out what else you may have had.

 
Don't think this was it and here's why. I spoke with two of the others I had lunch with.

They decided the beans were red not fava. there were peppers in the stew. Cayenne or something similar was added.

Don't put yourself out looking. Just keep it in mind, if you will, when you unearth your books.

It's no problem at all, I enjoy solving recipe mysteries

By red beans, do you mean kidney beans? The favas in this dish do resemble kidney beans but with no skins, of course flatter and a bit larger but not as huge as the favas that I have seen fresh.

In any case, your description is ringing a bell, I'll see what I can find.
