I forgot to mention this (blame pregnant brain) but a couple of weeks ago I gave up on it being a tactful time to ask for recipes from my Lebanese friend, so I made the giant sacrifice (lol) of going to my favourite Lebanese restaurant to research the bean stew.

What I was served was definitely fava beans although they resemble kidney beans far more than what we usually see as favas. I think it is a different variety. I obviously don't know for sure since I wasn't with you but I'd still guess that your dish was ful.

Maybe I should force myself to go again but this time bring my camera...

 
That's probably what it was and I DO appreciate your efforts (and sacrifice) on

my behalf!! I'm checking out a new Mid East restaurant soon- maybe they'll serve it, too. Getting to be that time of the year when stews and hearty soups sound more appetizing!

You don't have a good source for pita there? Or are you looking for a different type of bread?

Now I want ful. Too bad the shop didn't fix my car properly, I still can't shut it off for fear of not starting again.
