Hoppin John was very good. It is the first time I have used fresh black eyed peas. The smell of them cooking reminded me of when mom used to make a big "mess-o-greens" for dad who was from southern GA. However, my favorite part of the meal was the roasted pork butt. The meat was sweet and juicy and just melted in my mouth. It took great will power not to sit down and eat the entire pot-full straight from the pot!

(DH has been working on rewiring the house for the computers so my internet has been down a lot and I missed your post-sorry!)

Oh that's fine - thanks again for the recipe... after coming inside from

the cold, it was a very comfy smell. The combination of everything, I guess. )
