be discarded? They don't seem different from the others. Also, am I supposed to remove the little brown spot on the end? I saw something about that not allowing it to bloom. Help! There doesn't seem to be much info out there on dried hominy and there were no directions on the bag.

 
C, I had no problems with mine. Soak over night, dumped, rinsed and

used in posole. If there were floaters, they went in with the rest. And I didn't trim anything off.

I could not believe the taste difference after using canned hominy (recipe from Coyote Cafe in Santa Fe; uses pork and chicken).

 
Thanks Marilyn, I think it has already been removed. What I was reading referred to making

hominy from corn. I'm backing away from the computer and just going with it, lol. My OCD is working overtime, lol.
