Our Leadership kids are sponsoring a Dance through the Decades Family night on Friday. The PTO is helping work with the kids selling refreshments, and they're having a bake sale. The last time they had a bake sale it seemed like individually packaged items worked best...a cookie, brownie, and so on. I work at the school, and don't have a lot of time between now and then to create something. Does anyone have any cute ideas that maybe won't mean a shopping trip...I have a solid pantry! I also have short-cut mixes to get me by if need be. I have a large shopping bag of tart apples as well. Please rescue me!

We have done rice krispie treats in the shape of Hershey's Kisses. It's easy, cute and is sold...

...individually.

You make the typical rice krispie treats recipe, but instead of smooshing the treats into a pan, you get a few extra hands and quickly form them into a cone shape, similar to a Hershey's Kiss, only bigger.

The easiest way to do this is to use small plastic funnels as "forms". We used funnels about 3" tall and about 3" wide at the open end. You pack the still-warm rice krispies into the funnel and then remove it and let it cool. You have to work fairly fast so the cereal doesn't cool too much before it's shaped, but with a couple of extra people it goes quick.

Once they're cool, you wrap them up in pieces of foil (like the Hershey's Kiss) and place a strip of paper coming out the top. With a computer and a little creativity, you can print cute slogans on the pieces of paper.

The kids love 'em and they sell well.

Problem SOLVED! Thank you Michael!!

I was looking at rice krispie treats earlier, wondering what I could do with them...something between witches and Christmas... Love the Kiss idea! It would be fun to bury an unwrapped kiss in the center too! Thanks for the funnel tip...it might have occurred to me, but now I'm planning on it! YAY! You're all so wonderful here at this site!

We've done these for birthday parties and printed....

..."Happy Birthday and A Big KISS to (insert name of birthday boy/girl)".

The possibilities are endless. Glad to pass it along. My wife got the idea years ago for St. Valentine's Day treats for the kids at school. She's a whip!
