Am dating someone who has just been diagnosed with anemia. Anyone have any dietary tips on ways to eat/prepare food or T&T recipes that can help for someone who doesn't like red meat or fish and is pretty much chicken-only? Any and all suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

Try doing a google search for "iron rich foods"

you will find a lot of information. You do need to know what type of anemia they are dealing with, however. If it's a vitamin B12 deficiency, then it's not just iron they need.

am assuming it is iron deficiency anemia? I too am dealing with this--

here is a great link--follow the links within this one for loads of info.

As I mentioned in a post above, a little can of smoked clams has 100% of the daily requirement for iron. I make a salad with lots of veggies and top it with a can.

Chicken is excellent. Here is one link on others:

Dark green veggies, eggs, etc.
Also note that some foods help you absorb iron and some inhibit absorbtion.
Spinach has lots of iron, but has an ingredient that inhibits!
My doc added a supplement, in a month I had raised my count, but he wanted to step it up.
I also eat very little red meat.
Good luck and take care,
Nan

Welcome Joe. You've got some good suggestions here. Hope

it helps. I too have been anemic lately. I am going to try Nan's suggestion about the clams. Maybe some clam pasta too. My doc said to add red meat at least once a week. I try to get that in, but that's not the choice of everyone. Good Luck!
