I am a looking on the internet and find ONLY recipes for German Chocolate Cake Filling/frosting that call for egg yolks or eggs.

I swear I have made a version of this frosting that is quite rich, but does not use egg yolks for thickening. Maybe cornstarch?

I need this ASAP as I would like to make a German Chocolate Cake for a birthday this coming Friday.

Thanks!

mistral, do an "advanced google search" like this:

pecan, coconut, icing -egg, -yolk

The first three ingredients in the "all these words" field

egg, yolk in the "none of these words" field.

I got a boatload of results...the icing does tend to look a little runnier, but there you go.

Thank you--this did turn up some recipes; I will be adding cornstarch to the one I pick! More .. .

And thank you for showing be the advanced search on Google. For some reason I have not been able to find it since they moved the link to it off their opening search page. I guess I just kept missing it at the bottom of search result pages; I swear I must be blind. . .

That advanced search doesn't work for me - all of the words I tell it to ignore are ALL that come up

I love how she filled the cupcakes. we have a similar vegan chocolate cake in T&T. it's great

and I actually used it for my wedding cake last summer. it was also German chocolate, but I made a SF version of the frosting, not vegan.
