Not sure but thought this came up before so wanted to ask for some advice.

After spending a week at mom's I'd sure like to get her eating better, but being 500 miles away keeps me from doing the cooking. She pretty much doesn't cook anymore and claims she is never hungry but if you put good food under her nose eats quite well -- we all know the so called tv dinners leave a lot lacking on many levels and aren't anything you'd want to eat everyday both in quality or quanity. So I'd like to start sending her good microwave type meals on a ongoing basis if I can find such a thing.

I thought I had a catalog come in the mail from some place but must have tossed it.

Any sources you can point me to? Bonus for T&T!

Maria, have you looked at Trader Joes? I don't buy the pre-made stuff but a friend who doesn't like

to cook yet enjoys great food just raves about what Trader Joes has to offer...it's in the refrigerated section near the cheeses and such.

Also, what about one of those "assemble your own dinner" places. I forget the names here in the Bay Area...will do a little investigating and get back to you.

Don't know where you are located....

but in my area of Baltimore there are 2 "kosher" stores that both sell pre-made meals. there is Trader Joe's and 3 "gourmet" food stores that deliver prepared meals. Even the Giant and Safeway have reasonable prepared foods. Hopefully you will be able to find some place that will deliver on a regular basis. How about the "diet" places tht deliver a week or a months supply to your home.

Good Luck

Not sure where your mom is, but you might want to check out Seattle Sutton.

http://www.sshe.com/. Seattle Sutton is a registered nurse and dietician who started a company which delivers fresh meals weekly. I think you can have any combination of breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I know several bachelors who tried it and said that the food was quite good, and you rarely get dishes repeated. Might be worth checking out to see if that's available where your mom lives.

Hi...I love TJ's but I need to be able to ship to her...

so was looking for a company that would do that. In her tiny town there isn't a TJ's. Heck, it took checking 3 grocery stores and finally a liquor store to get a bottle of Port for TG and even then I had the option of only 1 brand. Plus, if I send them as a gift I know she will eat them.

So I was thinking there must be some mail order companies that do this - I've searched and found this one called Magic Kitchens (see link) but was hoping to find others and maybe someone who has used one of these places--I swear I thought somebody a while back recommended one but then again it could be my memory-o-pause.

MariaDNOCA, Just a thought ... Have you thought about a personal chef as an option? Perhaps there

are some in her area that can prepare food for her? Just a thought and I don't know how expensive that would be.

I just ordered for delivery around 12 Dec. this is odd though, they deliver to Hawaii but not Alaska

It says "the continental US and Hawaii, but not Alaska" duh. Alaska is part of the "continental" US, but not the "contiguous" US. last time I looked we were still connected to the North American Continent, where I'm pretty sure that Hawaii is not. I just had to email their customer service. It makes no sense that they mail to Hawaii, which is farther away and so much hotter than Alaska. Anyway, Dad lives in Indiana so it's not a problem with this order. It just irked me.
