She loves sushi and want to play with making her own versions with things like edamame and such and she loves getting her friends to try new things. Anyone know what book is the best to learn to make sushi - we have until late Sept to master it. Or sushi and noodle bar - she loves noodle dishes like at Wagamama.

Or any other ideas? We can't spend a fortune so I ned something that will be unique and probably more do at home rather than taking them out somewhere and paying a forune. She's begged me not to do anything 'embarrassing'.

What a good idea! I have a marvelous seasoned sushi rice recipe if you'd like...

it's one of those old handed-down through the family recipes from my Japanese relatives. You can buy the package of toasted seaweed sheets at an Asian market (or probably your local Vons/Ralphs these days). You'll need the sushi mats for rolling --they would be cheap at an Asian market. Beyond that, it's up to your imagination what to put in it. You can have various dishes set out -- cucumber cut in pieces lengthwise, parboiled edamame peas, avacado, parboiled carrots cut in long pieces, the fake crab, etc., so each girl can do her own thing.
Here's a good video on it:

and here's a basic udon noodle soup that the girls can embellish with the same ingredients as the sushi rolls:
