Sine we are in a heat wave I decided on T&T Dulce de Leche Ice Cream Cake with Brownie Base
It's rich and fancy, but will please the kids too. Also did a small batch of brownies left over from the cake base. I topped that with caramel sauce and garnished with flaked salt.
I dunno about manly...they're just gonna hafta deal, lol.
I make the one bowl brownies (I wouldn't do again for the ice cream cake. Supernatural brownies keep their texture for that.) Since I decided not to make a half batch for the ice cream cake I made these with the other half of the batter.
To make the brownies caramel, after they were cool I drizzled them with sea salt caramel sauce and garnished with sea salt flakes both from TJ's. The mini chips are Swiss a friend gave me. The trick was to chill before cutting so not to end up with a mess. We are having a heatwave so they got a bit gooey sitting out at the bbq, but they went over so well they didn't last long. The salt flakes popped the flavor.
I would also recommend using the Supernatural brownie recipe with it. For some reason in my experience the original recipe brownie, and again this time in an attempt to cut corners by using the one bowl brownie recipe, resulted in a very firm brownie that was quite hard to cut through with a knife.
