Here is the recipe for the sweeter snack I said I would post. I got this recipe from a dear friend many, many years ago.

CHERRIOS CARMEL NUT CRUNCH

!/2 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 cup dark karo syrup

1/4 cup unsalted butter

1/2 tsp. salt

6 cups cherrios

2 cups chopped pecans or walnuts or unsalted peanuts

Butter or spray with Pam, a jelly roll pan.

15 1/2"x10 1/2"

In a 3qt. pan, put in the brown sugar,Karo, butter and salt.

On medium heat, stirring constantly, heat until sugar is dissolved-about 5 minutes, remove from heat.

Stir in cherrios and nuts. Mix well until cereal and nuts are well coated.

Spread in buttered pan and bake at 325 degrees 15 minutes.

Cool until slightly firm, 5-7 minutes. Loosen with spatula. let stand until firm-about 1 hour.

Store in tightly covered container.

Makes about 8 cups of snack.

Here is another good snack.

CINNAMON GRAHAM POPCORN

10 cups popped corn

1 1/2 cups golden raisins

2 cups graham cracker cereal (Golden Grahams)

1 cup mini marshmallows

1 cup chopped dried dates

1/4 cup unslated butter-melted

1/4 cup brown sugar

2 tsp. cinnamon

1/2 tsp. ground ginger

1/2 tsp. nutmeg

Heat oven to 250 degrees

Combine popcorn, raisins, cereal,marshmallows, and dates in a large bowl.

Combine rest of ingredients in small bowl, mix well.

Stir into popcorn mixture

Pour onto buttered cookie sheet, bake 20 minutes, stirring once.

Cool and store in airtight container.

Makes about 14 cups mix.
