tasty treats gone downhill? Not only do they seem smaller, but the cake part is flatter and does not taste as chocolatey. What a disappointment!

Debbie

Three thoughts: different chocolate (read: cheaper), different production method (read: cheaper) or

replacement of trans fats with another less guilty fat.

Or else...our tastebuds are just getting more sophisticated...ya, that's the ticket!

I guess I could save the wrappers from the Tootsies I tossed & wrap them around these!

Truth is I'm probably too lazy to make them!

Everything tastes different now to me...

I'm 52, so I remember Drakes Cakes and Twinkies having something a lot closer to whipped cream in them. And somores (sp?) don't taste the same. Hershey's must have changed their chocolate to "cheapen" it. Coke doesn't even taste the same since they stopped putting it into green glass bottles!

I want my babies back, babies back, babies back, I want my babies back......

Is it me? Are my taste buds getting old or something? Argh!!

I don't think our tastebuds are getting old...I think they're cutting

corners with ingredients. I remember noting the change in Eskimo Pies chocolate (got chewier and less chocolatey)back in the 70's. I remember reading somewhere that they were putting a form of plastic in the chocolate. And I no longer order Thin Mints from the Girl Scouts (was addicted to them as a kid but today they're powdery dry). I think if our tastebuds were getting old we couldn't appreciate sweet corn on the cob or really good quality chocolate smileys/smile.gif

I have become addicted to Little Debbie strawberry rolls this summer...

so I have nothing to compare them with (lol), but they are very good.

'Wish I could make something close to that as a large cake for next birthday. They are sooooo good. Anyone know how to make slightly sour, gelatinous strawberry filling?!

I've heard several people say Coke, etc doesn't taste the same since they started sweetening it with

corn syrup instead of cane sugar. I wouldn't know, never drink it.

You may have something with the transfat thing, don't all products have to get rid of transfat by a

certain date? That's definitely a good thing, imo.
