Brigham's Fudge Sauce Recipe #270905

According to family lore, this is the hot fudge sauce served at Brigham's Ice Cream shops in the Boston, MA area. I don't know if it is or not, but it sure tastes like it. It's delicious & very easy to make - great for Christmas gifts.

12 ounces

12 min 12 min prep

1/2 cup butter

1 lb confectioners' sugar

1 (12 ounce) can evaporated milk

5 unsweetened chocolate squares

1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla

Melt butter & chocolate over low heat in a heavy saucepan.

Stir in sugar & evaporated milk.

Cook over medium heat for 8 minutes until thickened, then add vanilla.

If you're a chocoholic, you MUST give this away or have a trusted family member hide it on you.

When I was a very young girl, we used to go to Boston quite often

to visit my mothers' family and my aunts treat was to take us to Brighams for Ice Cream Sundaes. I loved my aunt dearly and couldn't wait to go visit her, as she made it such fun for us. Gosh, how this brought back memories!!!!

Thanks Misplaced. I got to try this sauce when I visited Newton Highlands

this summer. All of my husband's family are ice cream addicts, so we had to make a stop there. I am not eating dairy, but I enjoyed the sauce off of my son's sundae - it's great!

I'll bet it's sublime with good vanilla underneath.

It's nice to know that some things do not change. Yes Mar,, I do love you!!!

Do you think I want to be the only "chubby" one??? LOL

Why Misplaced, you know I have you beat on that!!! smileys/wink.gif
