in a motor home, on their way to Key West. I'd like to have some hospitality to offer them, just in case it seems appropriate. Any suggestions? I could break out the coffee pot (we just use instant), and I would like to have something on hand to serve. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

I agree with Joe.

Perhaps have some smoked salmon to go with the bagels? I like the idea of fresh juice--it would be very refreshing. I would also have things ready to pull out of the fridge so you don't have to waste time assembling them.

How about some scrambled eggs with toast and sausage or bacon?

Get that butter out for room temperature.

A plate of fruit like Joe suggested would be good a great addition.

Thank you, I think Joe's suggestions are great! I baked a strawberry bread and bought some fruit,

we'll offer coffee and juice, it sounds perfect! I'll save the Pear and Walnut Cake for another time, thanks, Ang.

I think the eggs and sausage.bacon might be a bit heavy, as I assume they will have had breakfast

before they arrive. They may not even be hungry, but I wanted to have something on hand, just in case.

this is a fabulous strawberry nut bread from prepared pantry.

Strawberry Nut Bread Recipe
We were on a mission to make strawberry banana nut bread. But we couldn’t add enough fruit to make both the strawberries and the bananas stand out so we settled for strawberry nut bread. It is good.
If you like to explore, try adding bananas instead of the strawberry puree. Add another 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. It will make a very nice, moist loaf but we didn’t think it was quite flavorful enough.
This is another recipe for your fresh strawberries. It uses a ton. Be sure to refrigerate your bread.
Ingredients
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
6 tablespoons butter
1 2/3 cups granulated sugar
5 large eggs
1/2 cup sour cream
2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup strawberry puree
2 cups sliced strawberries
3/4 cup walnut pieces
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
1. In a medium bowl, mix the flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, and cinnamon together. Set aside.
2. Cream the butter and sugar together. Add the eggs, one at a time, and beat after each. Continue beating until light and fluffy. Add the sour cream and vanilla.
3. Fold the flour mixture and the pureed strawberries into the mixture, about a third at a time alternating and starting with the flour mixture. Fold in the sliced strawberries and the walnuts.
4. Spoon the batter into two medium loaf pans. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into a center crack comes out clean. Let the bread cool for five minutes in the pans before removing the bread to a rack to complete the cooling.
Baker’s note: Because this bread has so much fruit, it should be stored in your refrigerator. Like all quick breads, the flavor improves after refrigeration.

My guests just left, and they were so impressed with my menu...a fruit plate with slices of

cantalope, pineapple and peeled mineolas; fresh orange juice, coffee, and toasted and buttered strawberry bread. They ate everything! Thanks, Joe, this was a winner.

So glad it went well! How nice of you to make them feel special and how nice of them to swing by on

their way! I am sure while it was a short trip, it must have been fun catching up!

The menu sounds perfect!!

You're very welcome. A fruit platter is so nice I wonder why we don't think of it more often

And so easy to do ahead and take in and out of the refrigerator until it's gone.
