Sorry to butt in... I don't know about the fruit tweaks, but other tweaks >>

have worked beautifully. For the last one of these I made, I chopped up a bar of fruit-and-nut chocolate and added it to the filling. Also subbed one cup of cream for one cup of milk. Turned out beautifully.

This cake restores my faith in myself as a baker. smileys/smile.gif Which is to say, the recipe is both flexible and foolproof!

I might have to make another one, immediately.

Let us know how the berries work!

 
Hi Hallie. I have not tried those tweaks, but would be very interested...

...in hearing the results.

Boring, I know, but we've always enjoyed it pretty much as written.
