Is there a "time-out" feature with regard to posts or responses???

I logged in . . . started a post, and had to leave. I returned an finished my response and got a message that said something to the effect that I was not able to respond. My only thought is that even though I was logged on, I may have "timed-out."

Any thoughts? Disappointed because it was a long post. Reminder to SELF . . . if I think it will be a long response, compose in Word first. How many times to I have to LEARN THIS LESSON???

Curious, however, about the time out thing . . .

Don't know if anyone else has had this problem.

Thanks.

Magnolia

Haven't had that happen but wouldn't it be nice if the log in time was longer? Not complaining Mimi>

LOVE this place and you for what you have done!

Before I changed ISP's this happened frequently. I finally

learned to compose in Word than use copy and paste.

I now have PeoplePC and haven't had any problems even when I took an online course that took forever to download each unit. Am happy with this new ISP and it's only $4.95 a month for AARP members.

Hmmm How often do you guys have to log in? I stay logged in literally for a month.

Once I log in, I'm logged in, and stay logged in. Maybe once a month, or less, do I actually have to log in.

Does anyone else get logged out frequently, and if so, what are the details of your computer setup? (OS, browser, security settings, allow cookies, etc.)

Ok, now I'm no computer brainy but I pretty much have to log in every time>>>

I leave this site. At least anything over 15 or 20 min. On any other site that requires log-in it lasts until I delete cookies. I do have it set to regulate cookies but it's set at the middle range. I have Microsoft Internet Explorer. No one else has to log in every time? This reminds me of the link (as in no link) not long ago that everyone else saw but me (remember this?) () and Curious.

I do, on my home computer. But...... at home we have wireless. on dial-up accounts...

our server automatically disconnects a customer after 20 min of inactivity. this prevents someone from walking away from the computer while still logged on and forgetting they are connected.

our dial-up accounts are $23 a month. the cost, to us, for one dial-up line is $75 a month. if someone stays logged on 24 - 7 that means they have taken one line all for themselves. obviously, we would have been out of business years ago without the time-out disconnect.

our wireless and dsl customers can stay on forever if they want.

Forever and ever....I really don't know my password. I was going to PM this, because I would like

to log-in from work....

Can you help?

I have no way to find out what your password is barb, but...

you can just change it to whatever you want. Be aware that sometimes when you change your password it can actually take an hour or two before it works. Sometimes it works immediately too. Just a little bug in the system we've never been able to figure out.

I've only had to log in twice, it's a good thing, while away and on a different computer, I realized

I have no idea what the password is.

I am on cable, and I stay logged in for hours. Does anyone use the "Remember me on this computer">>

option? I've never been logged out in the middle of an active session on this site.

I always the remember me but I thought that was just for the password. Is there no one else>>>

who has to log in all the time? I have Bellsouth DSL. Aaaarrgh!
